Good morning, Buzzers! A lot of us spent the summer working on GHO's, galleries, key art for all our brands, really trying to tap into a kid's imagination. For Barbie in particular, we've spent the summer talking about dreams and random, whimsical story telling from a girl's perspective. So imagine, after MONTHS of rounds and brainstorms (and some breakdowns), I found this site that validated nearly everything we've been talking about. But more importantly, it made me smile, laugh and yes, even cry.
I think you all will enjoy and be inspired by the photography of Toyokazu Nagano, based-in Ishikawa, Japan. His first notable series of photos was entitledKiss Me Project, snapping adorable photos of his four-year-old daughter Kanna on a kissing spree. The photos are so sweet and irreverent! After such acclaim for that series, he and Kanna followed with the Magic Road. This is where their road really collides with Barbie. Magic Road is full-on whimsy, humor and imagination – just the combo we've been working on all summer with oversized ice cream cones, flowers, cotton candy, etc! Take a look and enjoy! Thanks to DV for sending the nugget that snowballed into something undeniably Buzz-worthy!

MAGIC ROAD
INTERVIEW WITH TOYOKAZU NAGANO
If you don't want to read the whole article, I pulled two quotes that literally brought tears to my eyes:
There are a lot of pictures that were taken near a field. Was there a reason for that?
I didn’t want the background to have too much meaning, so I take them on a totally nondescript farm road that runs in front of our house.
I received a message from a foreigner who had seen the portraits, saying, “This farm road is no mere farm road. It’s a road with the power to make people smile, to make them happy. It must be a magic road!” and I’ve called the series “Magic Road” ever since. It marks the start of me taking pictures with creative (artistic, jokey) elements added in.
Yes, these pictures might seem unconnected at a glance, but they’re all part of my mission as a father with two daughters! I get all fired up about this on my own, but it’s grand preparation for the mega project that is the true motive of this super-dad: to choreograph their big day (wedding)! The fact that I gave taking photos maximum priority over playing with them when they said, “Play with us!” will be OK along with everything else if I can make them laugh in the end.
